Investment
Custom photography is an investment. It’s an artistic investment of my time and talent as a photographer to create beautiful images. It’s an investment you’ll make to purchase beautiful portraits to display in your home or give to loved ones.
Standard Session Fee
$150.00 per session. This includes up to 4 people. Some requested locations may require special permits and require an additional fee.
**session fee includes up to 2 hours of session time at location of your choice, online gallery w/slideshow, online ordering, and complete editing of your proofs.
I accept cash, personal checks and all major credit cards via Paypal. All session fees must be paid prior to session. Sessions are usually booked at least 2-4 weeks in advance.
Within 1-2 weeks after the session, you will receive an on-line gallery of 20-30 images. Images will be on line viewing/ordering for 30 days.
Session Details
I specialize in photojournalistic style digital photography and prefer natural light to create memorable portraits. The location of your session is entirely up to you. For outdoors, early mornings or late evenings are the best time for the optimal lighting.
What to Wear
Think simple…..less is more! Clothing choices are a very important to getting those portraits that you will love.
Avoid clothing with busy writing, large logos, or prints that can be distracting. Jeans are always a favorite along with bare feet. Simple sundresses are always lovely for little girls. Black or bright vivid colors always work well. Solid colors work well. I do not recommend wearing white unless everyone in your party is wearing white also. Newborns and babies are best photographed in nothing. I will bring some soft and comfortable blankets and other goodies for your little one.
If more than one subject is being photographed, please dress them in coordinating outfits. If you’re at a loss as to what to wear, you can always email for advice or bring several different outfits to the session so we can help you choose which ones would work best.
Maternity Sessions
Plan to schedule your maternity session 6-8 weeks BEFORE your due date.
On the day of your maternity-portrait session, plan to relax both before and after the session. You want to be well-rested, relaxed and comfortable for your session.
A couple of hours before your maternity photo session, eliminate any clothing that causes lines or indentations on the body. That would include anything elastic. If possible, wear a dress or robe to keep your body as smooth as possible, and either go barefoot or wear easy, slip-on shoes or slippers. This is especially important if your maternity portraits will include any nudity or partial nudity. Most maternity portraits do show bare belly, so you definitely do not want any marks from restrictive clothing. At the very least, lower the waistband on your maternity pants or underwear so everything is tucked below your belly to minimize lines. Wear a loose-fitting top to the actual session.
Bring along any particular clothing you want to be photographed in–and bring additional clothing, as well. You can include favorite maternity clothes and stretchy, snug-fitting pants and tops. Fabrics that adhere to the body to show curves work well. If you have jeans you can still get into (unzipped, of course), and pre-pregnancy favorites such as camisoles, bring those along, too. Even a negligee, high heels or a favorite hat may work themselves into a portrait or two. Scarves, shawls and lengths of soft, fluid fabrics make wonderful wraps for maternity portraits, so if you have those, bring them…along with a nude colored strapless bra or tube top to wear underneath the fabrics if you are not comfortable without.
Bring any props you would like to include in your portraits such as baby booties, a rubber ducky or a stuffed animal you received from the baby shower or already purchased for your baby make adorable props. So does a tiny outfit, shoes, a flower, or a copy of an ultrasound picture.
Once the photo shoot begins, relax. Embrace the intimacy of the moment and try to forget you are being photographed at all. Revel in that beautiful, maternal glow and enjoy the anticipation of becoming a mother. This is a moment to cherish forever.
